Drew and I gave the kiddos a Velata fondue pot for Christmas. The chocolate (milk, dark, or vanilla) or caramel comes in pouches that are warmed in the microwave. The fondue pot is heated with a light bulb and it keeps the already melted chocolate warm. It is totally kid friendly. At Christmas, they all thought "whatever mom".
Tonight was a different story. I decided tonight would be finger foods only for dinner and dessert. For dinner we had chicken satay, sweet potato and regular baked fries, and cut veggies. Our dips were BBQ sauce, ketchup, Ranch dressing, and chicken satay sauce. It was pretty much finger licking yumminess!
Dessert was of course crazy fun and messy. It was almost beyond what I could tolerate messy, but the kids had a blast so it was worth it. The fondue pot came with dark chocolate and it was really good....like surprisingly good! We had strawberries, pretzel sticks, Angel Food cake, and mini candy canes to dip in the chocolate.
The set comes with skewer dippers. It was definitely a memory making evening! Pretty much everyone was silly or totally messy!
Even Meemaw joined in on the craziness. And, we may or may not have eaten the entire Angel Food cake....
What fun! Can't wait to have a summer finger night!!!

ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to do a fondue dinner with the kids, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. I guess the FUN is worth the mess...maybe I'll put it on the menu for next week!
